Dear Advertisers:
Okay, so you want that "website" look .. your own URL address, fine.
Start by using iPowerWeb, our provider, for web-hosting and save a ton of money.
We can still direct traffic @ Shop Las Vegas, Phoenix Shopper or Shop OC for a nominal
fee of $25 per year, set you up, publish your website needs starting at $250 * for the
homepage plus two additional full-length pages and then at the average rate of $50 per page
(compare with over $100) any additional pages you may want.
And, registering your domain name, iPowerWeb usually includes that service with their
web-hosting packages of one year or best deal, two years at no additional charge, or
one of the most competitive registration fees on the market. iPowerWeb
has offices in Santa Monica and Phoenix with over 700,000 websites hosted!
* Just fill the Anchor Plus Order Form for your Webportal found below.
Your Advertising Project is Hand-Made.
The webportals are designed exclusively for local, small businesses to provide you with
the opportunity to have a presence on the web in a portal for Las Vegas, Phoenix, or Orange County (Calif.)
Finding your particular category too ..
We have added this large "search" by category image to key spots
to facilitate a shopper in finding a particular category
of interest to them.
There is also a Group Index
where the shopper can search based upon a logical grouping of categories.
You will not find this infrastructure anywhere else in the world.

.. it's your money
and, how you spend it to advertise your business
is definitely your business.
Consider this, see those ads to the right
for Shop Las Vegas, 2 cpi @ 2x? $500+
Today, you can run 1 cpi; 1x for as little as $140,
weekday. The R/J has dropped the 2x minimum.
See Chart.
Now, we do not want to discourage you from running print ads in either the
R/J media or any other local resource. We just want to point out that
you will save a bundle by advertising with us. You will save so much
money that it becomes ridiculous in any cost/benefit analysis. Example:
our Anchor Page Only is $75 for a year, thru December, we are giving away 2008 and that
means your monthly cost is split right in half, or $3 a month; 10 cents a day. *
And, consider the fact that the "page" will be online 24/7, in a traffic webportal that has
thousands of hits per day; organized for your consumers ease of navigation.
There are competitive websites (may be not in this market) that we still can not figure out
how folks are supposed to find their ad! .. a plumber .. I just want a plumber,
and it may be too much to ask for: that services the
Summerlin area, or
Northwest.
* Renewal discounts second to none, eg, $50/fee = $4.17/month or 14 cents a day.

There are many trade secrets that come out in this whole exercise that I will just leave silent,
you can judge by the end results. And, nothing looks worse than grammar and misspelling errors.
We found several spelling errors in the exercise.

Foundation Principle - Resume
Here is where there is a ton of exclusive and trade secrets that we are not about to share or publish herein.
After all, what makes one website stand out more than another is the selection of colors, fonts and graphic imagery
to augment the business message.
Common Mistakes
Most amateurs and some professionals integrate a menu-bar system that requires unnecessary bandwidth
overhead as well as placement on the page so that every website page truncates the business message. See before & after and template.
Graphic Images - too dark and sizing issues plus poorly selected items.
Foreign Font introduction, ie, Chinese is managed by capturing the various passages, croppin, and de-emphasizing.

About Proof Shakedown
|
Frank Picchione Your Website Designer
(702) 363-3290
Why Law Huang? Simple. Mr. Huang both appreciates the power of having
an Internet presence and something a little more than a small website.
Therefore, providing a good illustration of something more than our normal offering of Anchor Plus
which is a 3-page package. And, all at a fixed price quote, up front.
We know our (publishing) business and aren't afraid to provide a client with a "no surprise" price quote
that they can depend on now and tommorrow! Interested in some form of Proof Shakedown post publishing?
Ask us about it, and depending on how extensive or complex the revisions may be, we will be happy to
add a small fee for such additional services beyond the initial design work.
That translates into the Client receiving a 7-page package deal facelift for the price of our Anchor Plus
$250 plus a $100 charge for Proof Shakedown and a $100 annual maintenance fee for up to the equivalent of two
hours professional services. *
* The Proof Shakedown exceeded any two hour service substantially.

Hi, Franco,
How are you? Many thanks for your offer. I hope you enjoy your weekend.
Here is my initial suggestion to modify the website:
1. Please make all letters in a smaller size. Now it's nice to have all
pages printed in the paper, but I feel the lettersize of English is too
big.
This size is standard. I will use small then.
All Headings and Bullet-type listings left "as is," eg, Successful Cases.
2. Please move down the top the text of each pay. We should have a "sky"
on the top.
10 pixel added.
3. Also minimize the picture on the first page little bit.
375 x 260 reduced to 300 x 224.
4. Please erase on the home page the address, phone and fax number on the
right. Just have the address, phone and fax number on the bottom. Can you
make the copyright dated in 2004?
Homepage Only: remove right margin address, phone nos.
Note: you did not say to remove email icon in margin.
Copyright 2004-2007
5. On the Attorney Profiles page: Pls erase the "Superman"logo. on my
name, please erase "Michael", just use Xiaosheng Huang, Esq.. The Chinese
text about me is messy, so please use the attached text. On the bottom,
pls erase the photo of my building.
Superman Logo removed.
"Michael" removed.
Chinese graphic text beside your photo removed.
No attachment for replacement Chinese, space hold open
pending attachment receipt.
Office building photo removed from Mission Statement Section.
6. On the "Practice Area", pls erase the "level" with "companies and
investor". I'd like to add Chinese flag if you can find one. In the column
of "International Trade and Investment" ,please add "Assist American
companies to invest and do business in China" in the very beginning.
Scales of Justice (animated) removed below US Flag.
Add "Assist American companies to invest and do business in China"
in the text for International Trade and Investment Section.
Chinese Flag .. I'll let you know.
7. On the homepage, erase the "My books". This page does not work.
Sorry, as I stated in my proposal, I do NOT support forms, php, etc.
Guest_book.php is on your server. Do you want it removed?
"My Books" is on all your pages. Remove completely?
8. On the contact information page, pls erase the HOng Kong Asia Office
info. Just have the Ameircan address, phone and fax, but remember put on
:Email: xhuang@lawhuang.com.
Hong Kong Address taken out.
Email icon replaced with spelled out email address.
Suggestion: Las Vegas Map could be cropped to fit to the right
of the contact info. Assume: leave alone.
PENDING: ATTORNEY PROFILE (CHINESE ATTACHMENT)
BESIDE YOUR PHOTO, MIKE.
DONE.
Thank you! take it easy.

Hi Franco,
You are magic! I admire you are a genius! Thank you for your help. It
looks better and better now.
Here is my response:

I think it's not enough. Please make the "sky" even wider.

Dear Franco,
In the "What's New", about the book, the English text is messed up by
showing some bad codes. Also I would like to use a new English Text and
Chinese Text. Also I want to put a photo of the Taiwan version. I attach
the two files for your use.
Please try to minimize the size of the photos of the two books.
Also in the Home page, pls make more space between the English text and
Chinese text.
Many thanks for your help!

Some Final Thoughts ..
Let's face it, we are still in the days of pioneer publishing.
As a senior developer and project leader, I have seen the evolution of all forms
of electronic publishing from the early pioneer days of DOS fonts to Windows.
With the publishing media of the Internet today, I think many business owners are being overwhelmed
with technical options and making bad decisions.
A strong believer in the K.I.S.S. Method, or simplicity, and focus on the business message, I try
to draw an analogy of "business stationary, only online. Explain that your objective
is to take advantage of the amount of space you have for introducing your business and the unlimited
distribution channel versus "Hollyweird Pizzaz."
Since 1993 and the commercialization of the Internet with the Web (server,) technical components
for fancy menus have dominated the landscape. And, with the expected results -- a
goal of showmanship versus content. Content alluding to the fact that people get
all entangled with technology and forget their business objectives.
I sometimes like to draw upon my "basketball coach" analogy where I lecture on "basics" or
fundamentals of business communication and simply publishing same in HTML.
A good coach would demand that his players practice and become efficient in the basic drills
versus try to be fancy. The same concepts apply to publishing online.
This attorney did just that, integrated a "mouse/over" or "graphic/over" menu system, and probably
feeling as if he achieved a lot. The underlying code that drives all this, in our opinion,
is a bandwidth nightmare, first of all, and most importantly, deprives the business message of precious
vertical space along the left margin.
Introducing sound business practices that integrates the power of hyper-links online with a storyboard
and traditional text menu links, we have designed for the website a consistent look'n feel with a model
Template which will serve
every page in the site as well as the
Homepage.

|
| Common Publishing Mistake ..
Placement of the Menu Bar along the left margin is a common publishing mistake.
Other common publishing mistakes involve choice of publishing tools.
When I check out a website, I check the various page links for (a) content and (b) how quickly they appear.
Some of these illustrations that follow are gems. Gems with both poor layout of
their content and bandwidth issues for snappy appearance.
A Developer's Tool -- the Browser "Print Preview"
Using the browser "Print Preview" Option on the File pull-down menu bar not only saves paper,
but let's you see what your webpage will look like when you print it .. everything from margins
to page breaks. This exercise does you little good unless you go to the actual
website and select the "Print Preview" Option (as well as click on the various pages of the
website to see how quick the next webpage appears and evaluate the content.
Disclaimer: Shop Las Vegas is not affiliated with or publisher of any of the
illustrations that follow.
Thomas A. Larmore, Chartered
Mr. Larmore seems to be impressed with his homepage image of a open book and
the corresponding dark color scheme that image depends on. Key pages are either poorly
laid out, or lack content, and the page "wait" is extraordinary. He has some good "newsletter"
pages with "more.." links, but note how the link is jammed up against the sentence.
Julia L. Osborne Law Offices
Now, I am beginning to see (part of) the problem.
LexisNexis approach to website support services is to provide some options in template
and basically the same message (content.)
Lin & Associates
This website, it is not so much the content" as the publishing technique that
I refer to as the "stretch." The "Attorney Profile" Section chose to split the
pages per attorney where a cursory review indicated that they could have been consolidated on one
page with internal internal links.
Law Offices of Reza Athari
Note the layout (or template) is similar to Mr. Larmore's above. I like to
think of a lot of "bullet" pages, ie, outline content as a resume. Mr. Athari has good content,
but poor layout (again.)   Yes, page links are extraordinary slow.
Menu Bar on right side, but ..
Prudhomme Law Offices LLC
Same pitch:
Welcome to our Web site. We hope that you will find our site informative and useful. Our goal is to provide the highest quality legal services to you and your business in a timely fashion. We welcome the opportunity to talk with you and to discuss how we may be of service.
"Splash Screen" Approach ..
Pereira & Velasquez, LLP
Real estate management, again, left margin loss.
Well-meaning Template Approach ..
Gazda & Tadyon
This law firm chose a template that provided the primary links at the bottom of the page,
a submit form for inquiries in the right margin and a decent content body that prints fine. Only
problem is many of the navigation and online form (that truncates) prints too. Color scheme and
"frame" theme, evidently, is something the company management approves of. Personally, the "frame"
heading (theme) takes up too much precious screen real estate -- great for pictures on the wall, but not for
business communication.
Newsletter Approach ..
Attorney Robert West, Ltd.
Again, all the navigation links are in a vertical column along the left margin,
prime print area. The good news is that the published results restrict their
overall width to "printable" area and therefore everything is printed properly.
My point is "Why not place the navigation (out of sight) on the far right, out of the
"printable" area and give the main content, here an article on immigration, more space
horizontally?
Critique: This site is very thorough with informative data on every
aspect of his specialty area plus links for all the major government forms their clients
will need.
Depending on how you came to this point, you might want to visit
"Attorney Corner" for more details.
