What is Foxpro?

Learn more about making reports for Foxpro tables...

The "fox" logo has been around an awful long time.   Almost as long as its predecessor programming language dialect, dBase.   There was dBase II, III and then IV.   There was something called "Clipper" and "Quicksilver" - two popular compilers in the early years of DOS platform.   When the Windows platform became popular in the late 80's and early 90's; ten years ago now, Foxpro was the leading dBase dialect to move to same.   Then it happened - Microsoft decided to add Foxpro to its family of programming tools in March, 1992.   Almost three years later, Microsoft introduced its first version of a "Visual" Foxpro with "object-oriented" properties and extensions and methods.

That was January, 1995 (this page wallpaper,) and the San Diego Developer's Conference.

September, 2001 - six (plus) years later, Visual Foxpro is being released as Version 7.0 and Ken Levy, the VFP Product Manager.   Ken created a pre-compiler for the line of so-called "power tools" that shipped with Foxpro, Screen Builder, referred to as "GenscrnX."   Ken would come to Foxpro SIG meetings with his latest version of the preprocessor that rocketed this youngman to stardom in the techi world of Foxpro enthusiasts!
